My kids get to meet their teachers tomorrow. This afternoon we stopped by the school to see the posted class lists. My son was happy to see who his teacher will be, but he is mostly excited because second grade is upstairs!!!!! I used to teach second grade so I am excited that I will know most of what is going on this year with him. My daughter is starting first grade and has my son's previous teacher (YAY!). She was sad, though, because she doesn't know anyone in her class. I felt so bad for her today, and told her that she would see the friends she knew at lunch and recess everyday and that she would be making lots of new friends. It is so hard for her to get over her shyness with new kids. Anyway, I made this card for her, as a "treat" to stick in her first day's lunch box. It will be a little crazy that day, so I am posting now.
These are images I always think about in the fall - so typical for a classroom or school. I cannot wait for Joey and Emma's grand adventures in school this year. I will have a hard time sleeping Monday night. Anyone else out there like that on the night before school?

I was! I could not get a good nights sleep the night before my son's first day. (He just started kindergarten on Monday) And when I did fall asleep, I kept waking up in a panic. He is my first child and it really bothers me. I'm just having a difficult time letting go. I guess all of us moms go through the same thing. I think I had trouble sleeping all week. It's catching up with me...I'm sooo tired. There's no school tomorrow or Monday, so, I think I'm gonna try to sleep in just to catch up on some z's. Yeah right, with 2 little ones? I don't think so. LOL! Great card, BTW. I love the sentiment you used.
Dear Joey and Emma,
I hope you have a wonderful first day back to school. I wish I could be there to see you off on the bus. Just remember to smile, be kind to everyone, be a good listener, and follow directions.
I miss you, and love you lots. xoxoxoxo
Gorgeous Y
(PS - I know I could have sent this in a regular email, but when I saw this cute card your mommy made, I just had to write.)
I will be! My eldest is starting middle school and I am a wreck! She is excited :)!! My youngest will be going to school without her sister for the first time. I am really stressed about this! (If you knew me you'd know this is normal :))! I wish you and your children a wonderful first week back to school! The card is so well done! ((hugs))
